Our suggestion? Take the train!
You can easily compare the duration and emissions of the alternatives (plane vs. train vs. car) from your city to ESPID 2020 in Rotterdam here: http://www.ecopassenger.org
Taking the train to Rotterdam instead of flying cuts CO2 emissions per passenger dramatically.
With airport check-ins up to 2 hours, even for a 1-hour flight, plus the time and cost involved in getting to and from remote airports at each end, taking the train city centre to city centre could take as much or even less time than flying.
It can also significantly reduce your stress level!
You can easily compare the duration and emissions of the alternatives (plane vs. train vs. car) from your city to ESPID 2020 in Rotterdam here: http://www.ecopassenger.org
Example: Travelling from Bordeaux to Rotterdam takes around 6 hours in total by both train and plane BUT taking the train instead of flying cuts CO2 emissions per passenger over 90%!
Train trip not feasible in your case?
Take public transport to and from the airport!
Using a bus or train from the airport has a far smaller carbon footprint than scores of taxis or hire cars. And it often takes even less time by train, as you avoid all the traffic jams!
